The Journal
Editorial standards
How we research, source and update every article.
Who writes the Journal
Articles are drafted with research help, including AI tools, then edited, fact-checked and approved by our founder, who is named on every article. Nothing is published without a person reading every claim against its source.
Sources
We cite primary sources wherever possible: the FTC Jewelry Guides (16 CFR Part 23), dermatology associations, gemological institutes and our suppliers' written test reports. Every article lists its sources at the end.
First-hand testing
When we say how a piece wears, it comes from our own samples, worn and photographed, with the dates of the test. We do not use stock photos of jewelry we don't sell.
Our own products
We make jewelry, and the Journal recommends it where it fits. When we do, we say so, and we say who a piece is not for. We never claim a piece is waterproof, tarnish-proof or suitable for every sensitive ear, and we do not make health claims.
Updates and corrections
We change the “Updated” date only when the content changes. If you spot an error, email hello@solace-hour.pages.dev; we correct mistakes promptly and note significant corrections in the article.
